At Changi. On hush-hush flight to Woomera Australia for atom bomb tests.
XA 897 at Changi. This aircraft sadly crashed on landing at Heathrow after a successful Australian tour. Recriminations followed because the aircraft was piloted by AOC Bomber Command who was not qualified to fly the aircraft type. He and the co-pilot ejected safely but the rest of the crew who were not equipped with ejection seats did not survive. (This picture was taken surreptitiously without authorization because the Vulcan was still on the secret list).
